>> hello. >> first on fox tonight. spike in crime in northwest baltimore and some say a lack of space at reck center could be to blame. >> joy live outside the recreation center with the very latest on the story tonight. joy? >>reporter: the center that you see behind me used to be a police pal center until several months ago when the city department of recreation and parks took it over. well with the transition came a lot of new programs. programs aimed at the entire community not just at risk youth. will says that's resulting in kids returning to the street and committing crimes. while we were outside the cc jackson recreation center we were caught in a crime scene after man shot in the ankle by man wield ago shotgun. >> this is exactly what we talk about. when the kids don't have anywhere to go.

anything to do, this is what happens. this is the result. it's unfortunate. >>reporter: now tonight at 10:00 we are taking a lock at the numbers and seeing how serious of a spike in crime this area is actually seeing. live in northwest baltimore, joy, fox 45 news at 5:30. maryland man wanted for the murder of ex girlfriend found dead in virginia. 22-year-old alex originally from pasadena was found dead in a virginia hotel room. police were looking for him after they found 23-year-old giselle rodriguez shot dead in her massachusetts apartment. she was a student at fitsburg state college there and had on off relationship with rodriguez. she used to attend the same college. police say he was ordered to stay away from her back in march. >> 4 days since the water main break and major repair have yet to start. this is leave look at where the main broke along crowning highway. aging

infrastructure is to blame for friday break. several flooded homes are still a disaster mode this evening. bge reports 26 customers are still without power and gas. meanwhile the emotions of some of the resident in the flood zone gone from shock to anger. they say they are very outraged by the response or lack there of after promises made by politicians last weekend. kathleen joins us with that part of the story. kathleen. >>reporter: jeff, politicians on all levels turned out one day after flood to offer help. but many homeowners say now their insurance company won't pay a penny for the repairs. clean up continues on logan due drive where homeowner face thousands of dollars in damages. basement have been pumped out. but repairs could take months. some homeowners need to replace big ticket items like furnaces. but they say their insurance companies are refusing to pay anything and they say politicians are not helping either. >> somebody has to regulate

the stuff for us. i can't. i'm one man against it. they are just telling me sorry. i need my politicians to step up and go to battle for me. e-mayor dixon tells us this afternoon the liability is still being assessed but she recommends homeowners file claims in the mean time. this is fox 45 news at 5:30. our coverage of that disaster in dunn dock continue on fox 45 news at 10:00 and late edition at 11:00 o'clock e.if you have a streets of baltimore city. speed camera soon coming to a neighborhood near you. now we know where the camera will be installed. john joins us with the story you are seeing first on fox. john? >>reporter: well, jennifer, jennifer, city officials finalize the list of nearly 50 locations where speed camera will be installed. you will probably recognize many of the locations. that is because many of the intersections are the same ones where red light camera are already in operation. that includes the corner of northern parkway and green spring avenue. speed

camera also planned for northern parkway in falls road and northern parkway and park side avenue. other camera are expected to be installed at colt spring and lock raven and east 33rd street and the alameda. one city council woman is surprised that all the locations are at intersections. >> i don't understand that. that's where we need the red light cameras. for going through a light. but we need, need, we need these monitors to be between lights where people race to the next light. >>reporter: city officials won't officially comment on specific locations of speed camera and say the final list released next week and hoping most of the camera will be up and running some time in october. this is fox free for all friday news at 5:30. didn't get a break from a cop and won't from the court either. >> obviously your parents don't put a foot in your butt

since the great depression. >>reporter: county says also proud of how well it is doing in solving violent crimes. national clearance rate is 45 percent and baltimore county it is almost 76 percent. no one should die because they can not afford health care. this bill would fix that. >>reporter: max chairman of the senate finance committee work to go get the health care plan passed. the committee starts voting today on the plan and one amendment lowers the penalty on the middle class for not complying with the new mandy date everyone must have insurance coverage. those faevring health care reform took to the street today to tell major insurance companies how they feel. protestors gathered at the maryland office of united health care in owens mills armed with scenes and posters and ceo signed a pledge to support health care reform and

miles per hour in the northeast corridor of 95. slow 43 on 93 in baltimore coin but traveling on the jfx and west side of the belt way we are looking at 52 miles per hour and higher 57 on the south side of 95 there in howard county. now we have a road closure to tell you about. falls road at jaffa road shut down due to fallen power lines. not seeing much relief using the belt way. it is going to be a slow go from townsend to parkville and from parkville to 95 we are dealing with an accident northbound lanes right at white marsh boulevard as we take a live look at white marsh. you will see a little bit of volume starting to develop in the northbound lanes. now we are still dealing with the affects of the massive water main break in dunn dock. browning highway shut down in both direction at avon avenue. keep that in mind as you make your evening travel. now back to you. thanks so much. >> fall season arrived and with it came clouds. >> up next. find out when the

cash deposits to her bank account. this while her former body guard testifies about her spending habits calling her a shop aholic. melinda has more on the case. >>reporter: well the new details are from transcript of testimony during the grand jury proceedings where mayor dixon was in indicted on charges of perjury and theft. the mayor former body guard testified that she often over spent and to pay her credit card bill she's accused of taking money from her former boy friend a prominent businessman with dealings with the city but prosecutors say she never reported the cash gift on her ethics form. now they are asking more questions about cash deposits she made totalling nearly 14 grand. her attorney has said he can explain the money in court but the mayor is offering no explanation herself. >> first of all i'm not going to allow the media to try me out here in public. you know there are many sides to the situation. i'm not going to take this time and deal with it. >>reporter: but there is an

explanation. >> excuse me i said i'll not deal witness. i expect you to respect that. >>reporter: mayor also accused of stealing gift cards to be donated to needy family. her attorney filed a motion to have the charges dismissed. prosecutors filed a counter motion. it is up to a judge now to decide what happens next. melinda, fox 45 news at 5:30. parts of georgia still under water after devastating and deadly floods. at least 8 people have died in the flooding that hit georgia and some surrounding states. more than 20 inches of rain fell in the region in the last few days. georgia governor is telling flood victims who fled their homes to stay away because it is still too dangerous. man in cobb county braved the strong under current to save his neighbor. >> it was like a wave. big wave of water. and he just came around the side of the house and took me on to the other end. >> scary. scary. i was a

little nervous. i started to panic a little bit. thanks fortress cue boat. >>reporter: another look at just how severe the floods are. this is what atlanta 6 flags amusement park looks like. everything as you can see under water. water even reaching the top of the roller coaster there. this is the worst flooding in the atlanta region in 60 years. cloudy today. when do we get back to the beautiful weather we just said goodbye to. here's vytas with a look at the sky watch forecast. >> the mess down there in georgia called my cousin they said yes water in the basemen basement. not too good. what is going on here, we see showers across the area. light showers around the northern portion of baltimore county looking up into harper county north of belaire a little bit of showers north of route 1. we'll continue to see the showers pushing over the border into pennsylvania. zooming out the picture here we see south of us not a lot of activity but we'll have potential for seeing more rain as we go through the overnight. you can see the showers as they are traveling to the northeast. kind of losing a little bit of the

luster. pop up showers south west of dc out there west of the airport down there in dulles. we'll continue to see those showers 10 to move through the area tonight and then into tomorrow. zooming out the bigger picture you see down to the south a lot of heavy shower thunderstorm activity along the front stretching through southern indiana to jeffersonville and just west of louisville stretching down through just west of nashville, tennessee then down into parts of mess sip and alabama. another system will 10 to ride upbringing plenty of precipitation with it. so we have to watch it closely over the next couple days but temperatures have gone up a bit. 77 in dc. 77 in baltimore downtown. and looks like we could brush in the 80's by tomorrow at the south easterly flow continues to come up. the winds coming from the south south east and that will be the case for the next couple days. tonight maybe few patchy showers across the area. temperatures right around 71 degrees. south easterly wind at 5. how long will the rain stick around and how long will the temperatures stay warm for the first takeoff fall that just

anyone under the age of 18. county officials say tanning beds are widely suspected of causing skin cancer and they say it shouldn't be up to the parents to decide if tanning is okay. >> society has deemed it not correct or not appropriate for parents to have the right to choose to give consent to their minor children to be able to buy a pack of marlboro. the same should hold within door tanning bed. >>reporter: new report from the american cancer society says laws requiring parental permission for tang bed use not been successful in lowering the number of teens actually using tanning beds. all out ban for teenagers would be a first in the country. most americans will get by with just one swine flu vaccination but some kids may not. recent trial indicate kids under the age of 10 especially will likely need 2 shots. young kids could need a total of 4 shots this year. 2 for the seasonal flu. 2 for the swine flu. federal officials say flu mist for both flu are available if kids

flow of wind that keeps the temperatures on the warmer side of things. see the temperature increase through tomorrow. humidity level at 67 percent. few little drops coming down on the radar. see the showers that push through still potential for more pop up showers off to the west and not totally done with the rain. across the region the temperatures sitting at 77 once again in baltimore. 75 harris burg and 74 down to the west of us at hagerstown. 78 in richmond. even some 80's down to the south west. we may get some of the 80's as we get into tomorrow afternoon. as far as our future scan this is projection showing what we can expect over the next couple days here. can see the chance for some pop up showers here and there as we get through the afternoon evening on wednesday then into thursday as well. chance for maybe showers as well. we could get a few rumble of thunder and chance for heavy precipitation on the eastern show to salsbury as we get into thursday evening and then on the 7 day forecast see the temperatures 82 tomorrow. 84 on thursday. potential for some showers. nicer some showers. nicer conditions kicking
